Merida Inn and Suites

The rooms are spacious enough and clean, and it’s in a good location. It’s usually pretty quiet, and most of the staff are friendly. I’m happy with my stay every time, and I come here often.

We only stayed one night, which was plenty for me and my daughter. The pool was tiny, with a greenish blue color, and the deck had leaves all over it, as if it hadn’t been swept in days. It’s very close to downtown Saint Augustine by car, but not close enough to walk. The room felt neglected rather than charmingly old. There was a gap under the door where the rubber seal had peeled away, soap on a cloth on the bathroom floor, peeling paint, and a closet door coming apart. The mirror was cracked, the bathroom exhaust fan didn’t work, and there was rust and dirt on the doors. We’ve stayed in old hotels before because we like their charm, but this was just…ew. I wish I’d paid the extra $35-$40 to stay somewhere else.

I stay here often for work and love how quiet it is. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

We checked in and then checked out very quickly because the staff were so unfriendly, with no smile or welcome. They wouldn’t refund us, even though we had pictures showing hair, bugs, and unclean bed linens. We had to get our money back through Hotwire. The host insisted the room was clean but didn’t even offer to inspect it. Do not book this place!
