Ocean House Beach Vista

You wouldn’t expect much from the outside, but our room turned out to be surprisingly nice. Good beach location, and it wasn’t too crowded.

We’ve made this a family vacation spot for years. I came here as a child, and now we bring our own children. The beach is amazing, and it’s close to all the attractions.

We’ve stayed at this condo complex every year and love the location and beach, so it’s hard to write this. This time we rented unit 322, a direct oceanfront unit that was among the more expensive ones. It wasn’t ready when we arrived at 5 p.m. The cleaners rushed, barely cleaned, and left the floors undone. The unit was in terrible shape: holes and torn sheetrock, with mold visibly active in the walls; broken blinds that wouldn’t close at night; a hole cut in the sheetrock in the primary bath; mismatched bright white and warm bulbs; wires hanging from walls; old outlets that didn’t work or were falling out; and a shower so dirty you needed shoes. The patio was covered in spiderwebs too. Sovereign & Jacobs sent cleaners back, but we lost vacation time waiting with them. They pointed out more problems and spoke badly about the unit, which was awkward. Sovereign and Jacobs also gave us a thoughtful $150 gift card, but we’d spent $2700 on a condo the owners hadn’t made presentable to rent. I worried the whole time that my family was breathing mold from the walls. We spent most of the trip at the beach and dealt with it, but this unit is a poor reflection of Oceanhouse. If I owned a rental or worked for the company, I’d require it to be properly fixed before renting again, and wouldn’t leave it to the owner, who clearly can’t handle it. It seemed like there must be many building code violations. If I hadn’t visited Oceanhouse before, I wouldn’t return. Do visit oceanhouse, but avoid unit 322.

I had a wonderful four-month stay at Ocean House, with awesome views and a beautiful pool and beach. The grounds are extremely well kept, and the Association takes great care to make your stay perfect. I can’t wait to return in 2021. I’d love to own a place there someday!
