Sea Glass House

Getting around was easy: the staff arranged tickets for the hop-on hop-off bus around the old district, and the shuttle ride there and back was included. We stayed out later and took a $9 Uber back. Everyone went out of their way to look after us and make us feel welcome. It was a perfect day exploring a beautiful town.

I was very unhappy with the room. Light came through the curtains, and I could hear everything through the paper-thin walls. The bathroom door was awful: it slides, has no bottom hinge, flops around, and doesn’t really close. There are huge gaps along the sides and bottom, so it feels like a flimsy curtain.

The manager handled a reservation mix-up efficiently and with a smile. Staff were very nice, and the hotel was clean and in very good condition. Our room on the top floor was good for a mid-priced hotel, and it was mostly quiet; the area was quiet too. Parking felt a little tight. There’s mini golf next door if you want something fun to do.

Our room, 204, was spotless, modern, and had everything we needed. This is a small, two-story HIE, just a short drive from downtown, though it’s a long walk. It’s near the amphitheater, alligator farm, and lighthouse. Trolleys seemed to stop at the hotel for downtown, but we can’t be sure. The usual HIE breakfast was included, with sliced hot sausage. The lot was adequate but tight. We got a great last-minute rate of $104.
