The Bayfront Inn

The location was the real plus: a safe, quiet spot just 3-5 minutes on foot from the beautiful "Nights of lights" (must see videos). The town center and plenty of other attractions are walkable, roughly 5-35 min away, though the fountain of youth is about 25 minutes on foot. There are many places nearby, including a popular bar and seafood restaurant literally next door, within a 2 min walk. Shops and businesses tend to close around 11-12pm, perhaps a little later on weekends. I liked the hotel's rule against noise after 10 pm. The room and bathroom were both very small, and a little bathroom window opens toward the hotel Marion next door. It was only okay for the price. We paid around $800 for two nights, Dec 27-Dec 29, so it must have been especially expensive because of those dates. To be fair, the location is great, but this definitely isn't a $400 per night hotel.

We had a good-sized room, not huge, but big enough and reasonably well equipped. The staff at the desk were pleasant and helpful. We spent three nights at the Bayfront inn in st Augustine. It has a great location and the bonus of on-site parking. There's some traffic noise in the daytime, though evenings were fine. The outdoor pool and balcony sitting area were nice extras. The breakfast was good, though the choice was limited. I disliked that it was all served on plastic and paper plates with plastic cutlery. These days they should do more for the environment and use regular crockery and cutlery. At 5pm they also put out ham, cheese, and biscuits, which was a nice touch. The net curtains had tears and brought down the room's appearance a little.

If you're happy to walk, the location is great. We were near the historic area, lots of lovely restaurants, and an ocean view. Walking around was enjoyable, and we didn't need to drive anywhere during our stay. Parking is a premium in town, so it was great that it came with the room.

The BAYFRONT Marin House made for a wonderful, comfortable stay, and the whole team, especially Claudia, went out of their way to help us. Our room looked over the Bay, and the air coming off the water felt refreshing and helped my wife and me relax. The Breakfast and Happy Hour were both delicious and enjoyable. This was one of our best vacations, and we highly recommend it. If available, book the Marie Antoinette Sweet for the views from every angle. October was a great time to visit.
