Days Inn by Wyndham St. Charles IL

We woke up to a horrible smell that was making us sick, then found out sewage had backed up into the tubs in many first-floor rooms. We told the front desk about the problems, as did other guests, but they only wrote down our room number, said thanks, and wished us a good day. With all this going on, refunds would have been the right response. Waking up to poo in our tub was the last straw, and the lack of compassion was awful. The hotel is very outdated, with one section like an old motel and another enclosed, “nice” building. Our room had old splattered food on the wall, stained carpet, and stained furniture. The TV was the only updated thing. The pool had no water, with weeds starting to grow. Breakfast was a joke. The eggs and sausage looked so bad I wasn't sure I'd feed them to a starving animal. With these issues, the place should be shut down until it upgrades and fixes code violations, or shut permanently.

The recently remodeled rooms were very nice and clean. The location also worked great for the event we attended.

We spent 4 days here and felt safe and comfortable. It's an older hotel that's been updated, and the man who checked us in was very friendly. A decent choice if you're after a low-budget place.

The room was quiet, comfortable, and clean, and the continental breakfast was fresh. The reception clerks were professional, kind, and helpful.
