Hampton Inn & Suites St. Charles Old Town Area

The service was five star, way beyond what I expected. Big thanks to the front desk check-in team, the overnight staff, and housekeeping. I'll tell the company to choose this property on every visit. My room was much larger than I expected, and the coffee was extremely good. I travel for work and never get coffee this good, even though our company usually stays at Hilton properties. The workout facilities and the whole property were immaculately impressive.

We stayed with a group of athletes, and two of them developed bug bites. The rooms weren't very clean and the floors felt sticky. During our stay, housekeeping emptied one room without calling or telling us. The bags they'd closed were returned opened and emptied out, as if someone had rummaged through them. Some items were missing and never returned. The managers said they'd compensate us for a night or room, but when I checked the receipts, it looked like they never did.

The highway location made the room very loud. I needed earplugs and a sound machine. I also wasn't sure about the room service: on arrival, the sheets were wrinkled and the bed wasn't tucked in, which made me wonder if they'd quickly remade it instead of washing the bedding. There were plenty of wear marks, including paint scuffs and liquid soap detached from the wall. The fitness room had old equipment, though I liked that it had a pull-up bar, which is rare in hotels. More of an issue, it felt stuffy, as if the air conditioning wasn't running. One small thing: Hilton usually texts me to ask about my stay, but I didn't get one here. This Hampton Inn is a level below other Hampton Inn and Hilton hotels, and I definitely won't stay again.

Breakfast was great, but the accessible room I paid for cost too much for what I got. The TV wasn't mounted well and could only be watched from the sofa bed, not the actual bed. The shades didn't work the whole time, so I couldn't get any sunlight. I wish they had refunded some of the room charge.
