Best Western Plus Abbey Inn

The pool was nice, with a shallow area for little kids and a big hot tub that’s partly indoors. Breakfast was excellent, from the waffle maker, cooked eggs, and sausages to made-to-order omelettes and fresh fruit. They even had ready-made breakfast sandwiches for anyone in a hurry. Our room was spacious, clean, and pleasant. The front desk staff, room attendants, and breakfast team were all efficient and friendly.

We stopped here briefly on the way from Zion. The room was comfortable and clean, and the shower pressure was fantastic. The complimentary breakfast had so many choices, easily the best I’ve had, and the omelette station was great. It’s close to the highway, a short drive from Zion Hot Springs, and near lots of southern Utah’s beautiful sights. A good place to stay in St. George.

Breakfast was excellent and the hotel itself is nice, so I’d stay again, just not in this particular suite. We booked the Executive King Suite for our anniversary, and it had some appealing features, but at that price I expected more. The AC dripped onto the floor, and the jacuzzi made the room muggy. Housekeeping came only every other day, which left us short on fresh towels. That schedule might make sense for other rooms, but not a suite. The TV was big, though there was no phone casting or basic apps like YouTube, and its remote wouldn’t work from the bed. We also heard the people upstairs walking around for much of the night. The suite’s location was poor, with too many shared walls.

For over $140, this room was absolutely not worth it. There was a powerful paint or cleaning-product smell in the halls and room that wouldn’t go away. The sheets and towels were clean, but there was stuff on the walls, hair and dust on the box spring where the mattress didn’t fully cover it, and dark grime around the toilet base. The coffee cups had dried brown bits caught inside the plastic. You could get a much cleaner, better stay at the Hampton Inn for the same price.
