Quality Inn Saint George South Bluff

A good location for sports tournaments in the city or nearby Mesquite, and the prices are lower than in other areas since this isn't a five-star hotel. The staff were nice, the room was clean, and breakfast was hot. The ice machine was out of order, and people were often hanging around or smoking in the hallways. Comfort is limited, but it's a manageable option if you're looking for somewhere cheap.

The pool was advertised as heated, but it was so cold it felt like a cold plunge. The breakfast drink machines were out of order our whole stay, and the only thing we were pointed to was a bucket of water in the lobby. No other drinks were offered. They could at least have picked up orange juice for guests. Our bathroom sink also barely drained. I spoke to manager Rena on our first full day about a rate adjustment. She said she’d contact Expedia and call within an hour. Nothing came. Around 6:00 PM I checked with the front desk, and they seemed surprised she hadn’t called. One employee said he’d text her and that she’d call me from her personal phone. That call never came either. In response to management, I never asked Rena for a full cancellation or refund, just a rate adjustment. I also disagree that I was discourteous. I didn’t raise my voice or use inappropriate language. No substitute drinks were offered while the machines were down, despite what her response says. Ask the other guests. This was a frustrating stay, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.

The room was fine and the location was great. I’d probably have given this three or four stars, but the security issue means we won’t come back. My car was damaged in the lot right in front of a camera. I only wanted footage for a police report, not to hold the hotel responsible. Staff said they could see live footage but couldn’t access any past recordings. It makes you wonder what the cameras are for, and whether something worse would get the same response. It leaves the impression they might have reviewed it and chosen not to share it. The process was confusing too. The front desk first told me the manager could get the footage. I spoke with the manager the next day and was told they’d check and call back. Then the front desk called to say they couldn’t access it after all, only the owner could. I’d also explained several times that the room was under my girlfriend’s name, but that detail was forgotten. I’ve filed a police report and don’t know when I’ll hear back so I can begin trying to obtain the footage. They advertise a heated pool, but it was closed because the heater was broken. If safety and security matter to you, I’d look elsewhere.

Sonya is the best part of this place. She’s always accommodating and kind, and she’s the reason we kept staying here as long as we did. She deserves recognition for how professional she is. The rest has been really disappointing. Last night we were given a room with a huge cockroach in it. It was disgusting and stressful when we were just trying to rest. On other occasions, I’ve also been assigned a room that already belonged to someone else, which is scary and puts my safety at risk. That should never happen in a hotel. The woman working in the breakfast area was very rude to my husband. He’d try to grab something quickly before closing, and she would shut the doors on him even around 8:50. It felt disrespectful and unnecessary. With the cleanliness problems, safety concerns, and rude staff, I don’t recommend this Quality Inn.
