Vineyard Country Inn

The family noise at breakfast made this a poor choice for a quiet or romantic Napa stay. Both mornings, we shared the breakfast room with a group of eight, including two screaming toddlers and a man playing a soccer game loudly through his phone speaker. The staff didn't ask him to turn it off. After two days of enjoying Napa's wine, waking up to a shrieking baby whose parents did nothing about it was a rude start to the day. The inn is also right on the main road, and rooms beside it get traffic noise all day and most of the evening. Walking to town could be nice, but speeding cars go by constantly. There are real comforts here: enormous, charming rooms with fireplaces and Duraflame logs, a cozy feel, spacious layout, and a very comfy bed. The pool and hot tub were a nice extra in November, when nobody else braved the water or weather. Breakfast was generous, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the price made the rooms hard to pass up. We were glad we stayed, but the noise took away from the relaxing experience.

Don't trust this hotel. I tried to book two nights, but their website gave me trouble all the way through. After I finally confirmed and entered my card details, it said I hadn't met the minimum stay requirement, which the terrible website never mentioned. They had already charged my card a deposit. I'll dispute it!

We especially liked the warm, homey room at Vineyard Country Inn. It wasn't sleek or ultra-modern, but the thoughtful decor had character and suited the Napa Valley feel. It was spacious, cozy, and clean, with a private terrace overlooking the vineyards in every room. Breakfast was served in a beautifully set dining area, with fresh pastries, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, and coffee. Staff promptly refilled anything running low, so it always felt fresh. The St. Helena location made nearby restaurants and wineries easy to reach. Check-in is from 4 to 9 pm, but when we told staff we'd arrive later, they arranged a smooth self check-in. We also asked to briefly use a kitchen microwave, and they went out of their way to bring one to our room. We stayed two nights and made wonderful memories. It really completed our Napa Valley trip, and we'd love to return.

The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in, and I wish we hadn't stayed just one night. The inn is clean, and the layout gives you a separate king bedroom, a living room with an optional fireplace and Duraflame log, plus a separate sink and getting-ready space apart from the bathroom with its sink, tub, and shower. Outside, there are tables and two chairs on a patio overlooking vineyards, along with a small pool and hot tub that felt great. I'd happily come back.
