Breakfast was great, with plenty of good quality food and lots of protein, even when the room was busy. The pool being open 24/7 is a real plus, though the hot tub jets apparently weren't working in a review from eight months ago, so it seems to have been an issue for a while. The beds were firm but mostly comfortable, and the AC and heat worked well. The room smelled fine, but it was dated and poorly maintained. The tub was old and the shower ceiling low. I'm six feet tall, and the showerhead hit my chest when pointed straight out. It also wasn't attached to the wall. There were no USB ports.

Our VRBO across the street had a problem, so we came here looking for a little relief. Ricky was incredibly helpful, answered all our questions, and shared local suggestions. He even held a room for an hour so we could get the best last-minute deal. We're sitting in a spacious, clean room now and looking forward to St. Ignace and Mackinac Island. I'd highly recommend the Holiday Inn Express at Ignace!

Our room hadn't been properly cleaned: there was toothpaste in the sink, the carpet was dirty, the furniture was dusty, and rust-colored water was leaking from the mini-fridge. The shower water stayed lukewarm for our entire visit. Maybe that's a first-floor issue. The stay was serviceable, and luckily it was an off-season weekend. Summer prices go way up, and I can't imagine paying $300 a night for a room that dingy.

The staff were helpful, and they arranged a shuttle to the island ferry within minutes. Parking was good, and the view is fantastic. Breakfast was a little basic, but perfectly good. A second elevator is the one thing that would improve this hotel.

We arrived late, and the guest services staff were great. After a week of sleeping on the ground while backpacking, the comfortable, very nice room was just what we needed. Our Lakeview room gave us an amazing sunrise, and the regular coffee was a bonus. The hotel has good amenities, though we didn't have time to use them this trip. We'd definitely stay again.
