Welcome Inn St. Johns

The room and sheets were quite clean, and the AC worked really well. We also found the staff welcoming and helpful, check-in was easy, and the motel is conveniently located just off the main drag. I got the sense it had recently changed hands. The rooms themselves are run down and showing their age. A few crickets had come in through the gap under the door, and the code lock had no inside deadbolt, which made me uneasy about sleeping there. It wasn't the worst place I've stayed, but if you're at all particular about where you stay, I'd look elsewhere.

All the staff were amazing whenever I interacted with them. Even my dog loved them. I'll definitely be back!

The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the staff friendly. That was about all the good, though. The shower never got properly hot. Staff told me to let it run, but after 10 minutes it went from lukewarm to cool. The internet was slow and unreliable, even when the weather was clear, and the bathroom shampoo bottle had been used and was nearly empty. One morning I got locked out of my room, and no one was in the office or answered the phone. The woman above me made a lot of noise every morning from around 0330, banging around so much it sounded like she was practicing jiujitsu or dumping bushels of potatoes in the tub. I spoke with her and with staff, who said they'd look into moving me to another room, but they never followed up. Just get an AirBnB and spare yourself the hassle of a subpar stay.

The area felt very safe, and the staff were kind and helpful. The beds and pillows were comfortable, too. But the water heater couldn't keep up, so the showers were cold. There was no coffee in the room or breakfast. I paid $208.30 for two nights with a pet, and I think the amenities are worth a bit less.
