Fairbanks Inn

My son and I were here for a couple of nights. The rooms were warm and clean, the beds comfortable, and the mini fridges were larger than usual. There was a microwave and other basics, too. The front desk was friendly and available. After a big day skiing, it was a great location for getting food in town. Good value for the money.

The view was nice, and having free parking was a plus. The room was fine and smelled clean. It’s an older place, and I guess there’s a lot of moisture around here, because the door latch and tub faucet were rusty and falling apart, and the paint or wallpaper was peeling. A hornet somehow got into the room, but at least there weren’t other bugs like at my airbnb. I ended up here after having to leave an airbnb I’d booked months earlier because it had too many bugs. I called the hotel, and they said they had availability and that I could book once I got there. Apparently this happens a lot around here, so if I come back, no airbnb! The guys at the counter were really nice and checked me in quickly late at night. Breakfast choices were extremely limited. All I had was a banana. I’m not sure I’d stay in St. J’s again because food options are so limited, but I felt comfortable at this quiet little town hotel.

The motel has a nice green space behind it, which was the one saving grace. The room was just okay, but the bathroom tile was cracked and the toilet never flushed right. It would go down, then a couple of hours later bits of toilet paper would come back up. I think a crack in the pipe behind the bowl caused water to flood the floor, and I was left mopping it up with towels. The wood on the slider door had gouges in it, too. When I told the manager about the toilet, I got, “I will tell housekeeping.” I suggested they shouldn’t rent the room until it was repaired, and got no response. I paid $144 plus twenty dollars in fees.

SIMPLY PUT, “AMAZING”. We came up from New Jersey this Saturday for one night, hauling an 18 wheeler tractor trailer with a 13,000 pound load to deliver Sunday morning. I checked in at 10:30pm after more than 7 hours on the road, and was treated with nothing but respect and care. The staff made sure there was plenty of secure space for my truck. Check-in took less than 5 minutes. They asked what time we’d be leaving so they could have hot coffee ready for us on the way out, which was an awesome gesture. The room was HUGE and very, very clean, with a refrigerator, microwave, and a very nice balcony. Just a very satisfied customer. 💯💯🫡🫡
