Candlewood Suites Saint Joseph

I reserved a handicapped accessible room with a roll-in shower, but at 4 pm they charged my card and tried to put me in a non-ADA room with a very low toilet and a tub. I went back to the desk and said it wasn't the room I'd specifically booked. They told me they'd given away my reservation. There was no offer to help find another accessible room in town, only a few points toward a partial discount on a future stay, and then they reversed the card charge. I can't believe they think treating disabled people this way is okay. I strongly encourage disabled folks not to book here. They cannot be trusted to honor a reservation.

I didn't realize at first that this was a long-term stay hotel, but it turned out to suit me perfectly for an amazing two-month stay. The kitchens in the rooms meant I could cook instead of relying on takeout every night. Laundry was free, though it got busy at some times of day. Housekeeping only came by once a week, which I loved since I like sleeping in. The managers, front desk staff, and housekeepers were polite and tried to answer my questions or help. There was no breakfast because the hotel has no main kitchen, just the kitchens in the rooms. That was fine, since I bought breakfast items at the store next door. I also wish they'd had ice machines. I hadn't realized the ice was made in the freezer section of the full-size refrigerators. I've stayed at one of the best hotels I've found in Missouri. I might try other Candlewood Suites now, or come back here.

A solid place to stay. The rooms were clean, and housekeeping was very nice. The blonde woman at the front desk always had good energy, and Elaine was helpful and kind. The pantry has a good selection, though some things are a little overpriced.

Dogs are allowed, which is great, but my room reeked of deodorizer so badly it was hard to breathe. I also had to pay a $75 nonrefundable pet deposit. The room itself was okay, nothing special. I won't stay there again.
