The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout, offering dining choices at the two restaurants in the building and even asking if we needed directions when we checked out. Our room was spotless, with crisp white sheets, a clean glass shower with a rain head, and a pleasant smell. Free parking was a bonus. We stayed on a Friday after a show at the Fox, and the hotel felt cozy and intimate. There aren’t many rooms, and it was very quiet. It’s an older building that’s been retrofitted, so the rooms are a little awkward and small. The pipes can get loud at night, but I think that adds to the charm. I only took off a star for the lack of in-room amenities: no coffee pot, microwave, or ice bucket, though there was a fridge. We had to go down to the lobby coffee bar for a morning drink, and it was messy and a bit disorganized after the morning rush. For a luxury hotel, I expected to make coffee in the room, but that’s a minor complaint. Cleanliness and service matter most, and both were there.

In my opinion, this wasn’t worth $253. I checked in at 8pm and found there was no remote in my room. After waiting an hour, I was moved to another room. The front desk clerk was very pleasant, at least. The decor was nice, but that was about it, and there wasn’t even bottled water in the room. I could’ve spent my money at the Four Seasons. The carpet had dark spots, the showers needed a professional cleaning, and there was a smell throughout the hotel. It was my first and last visit to Ignacio hotel.

I was there for a wedding event, not an overnight stay, so I only saw a little of the hotel. The architecture and paintings were interesting, and if you’re into motorcycles, the real bikes decorating the walls and ceilings are a big plus. The prix fixe meals were delicious, and the mixed drinks I had were well made. I have no complaints from the time I spent there.

With just 49 rooms, this is a quiet, cozy, chic hotel, but it still has a gym, room service, and two restaurants on site. My room was nice, the bed was comfortable, and the view was beautiful. I only missed having a microwave and blow dryer in the room. A free airport shuttle would seal the deal. It worked well for what I needed from a downtown hotel.

The attached restaurant was my favorite part, especially the really good French fries. It’s a beautiful, smaller hotel, so there isn’t a microwave, but my room had a mini fridge, desk, iron, hangers, and a really cool shower. It felt like the best place I could’ve picked for my trip to St. Louis.
