Quality Inn Saint Louis Airport

There was no hot water in either the shower or sink, the toilet took ages to flush, and the floor hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived. The beds were small and very hard, the blankets paper-thin, and there were blood stains on the wall beside the first bed. Weed was being smoked in the stairwell, and the TV was old-fashioned. On top of that, they charged a $100 deposit even though I’d paid online. Awful.

The bathroom had a huge hole in the wall with a cockroach in it, and there was also a dead cockroach in the room. The shower handle was broken, so I had to punch it to get the water running. My door had no safety latch, and a wet patch on the bed left me uneasy. I slept just a few hours on the edge, worried about whether there might be bed bugs. Read all the reviews.

We won’t stay at Quality Inn Airport again. This was their second chance, and the whole point of booking there for park and fly was an easy airport shuttle. Instead, we paid for breakfast at the airport and got sunburned waiting for a ride. We could have booked anywhere, and next time we’ll pay more for a proper breakfast and a reliable shuttle. In the morning, the advertised breakfast room was nearly empty. There was a waffle maker and a couple of cold cereals, but no eggs, sausage, bacon, bagels, yogurt, or toast. While we waited for the shuttle, another guest asked about eggs and sausage, and the desk clerk said they didn’t have any. The shuttle situation was worse. The van didn’t say Quality Inn; it had a Double Tree logo. The driver told us to look for Double Tree when we returned, but at Lambert, shuttle after shuttle passed while we stood in the sun. A couple had the Double Tree logo, none said Quality Inn, and none of the drivers we asked were going there. We finally called Quality Inn, even though we’d already given them our flight information and departure time. The clerk sounded startled and said they’d send a shuttle. When we asked what to look for, she said Hyiatt. Eventually a van marked Hilton or Double Tree, I don’t remember which, stopped and said he’d take us. We don’t know whether he was the one they sent or just helped us out. We got back to our car and started the 2 1/2 hour drive home much later than we would have otherwise. We were the only people still waiting at the curb for their shuttle.

It was affordable, and check-in was great. The staff were kind, but the facilities were just okay. I could hear the neighbors across the hall as if they were in my room, even though they weren’t yelling. The longer I stayed, the worse I felt, so I left in the middle of the night and checked into the Hampton Inn up the street. I didn’t try to get the noise issue fixed; I just left.
