Hampton Inn & Suites St. Petersburg/Downtown

The room was spotless, and the housekeepers kept it supplied with what I needed. They were friendly and fun to chat with, just like the helpful people at the front desk. I liked this place so much that I booked 10 more nights in March. Definitely recommend it.

The location is great, but the place felt tired and dirty. The pool was cold, with an empty plastic bottle floating in water that looked really dirty. At 8:30am, the morning maid insisted on cleaning our room. We politely asked her to return later, and she got mad. When we asked her at 9:30am, she said we had “lost our turn.” After a lot of persuading, she tidied the room. Breakfast was poor, and the lobby staff looked shabby. The bed was way too soft. The balcony looked nice but couldn’t be accessed. The view was of a parking garage to the east and a 30+ story condo to the west, on the pool side. Thank God we’re leaving tomorrow.

Breakfast was a real highlight compared with other Hampton Inns. They kept replacing the items, and the fruit was excellent. We also liked the updated rooms and were happy with the shower. The location makes it easy to get to Beach drive and central avenue, with the gym and pool on the second floor. The hotel accepts pets, but manager Grayson found us a room that hadn’t had pets in it since the remodeling, which we really appreciated. Staff work well together to make this a happy, positive stay. It’s a well-run hotel.

The staff were amazing, friendly, and helpful, doing what they could and then some to meet our needs. It’s also a great place for wheelchair users, with comfortable, accommodating access. Even the rooms not designated as accessible had good access, and the public restrooms have a sink in the stall, which was helpful. You can walk to museums, parks, the waterfront, shops, and cafes from here. The pool view from our room was okay, and the beds were extremely comfortable. For the price, though, I expected more than a regular hotel room. Maybe a bay view would have impressed me more.
