Red Roof Inn Tampa Bay - St Petersburg

We had already paid, but left right away because this didn't feel acceptable or safe for a family. We were traveling with our two 5-year-old kids, and people outside Room 234 were smoking weed and staring at us. Inside, there was a strong smell of smoke and weed, no working electricity or lights, and bugs crawling on the walls, floor, and even the bed when I used my phone flashlight to see. The place felt dirty and poorly maintained. Please don't respond with the usual formal line about working on bugs or offering smoke-removal spray. That doesn't address a room with bugs, no power, and people smoking weed outside the door. Fix the real issues before renting rooms to families. I strongly recommend not booking this property.

It's almost a year since this hotel canceled my reservation on the morning of my trip to reaggea rise up, without probable cause. A day or two before, we called because we had fraud trouble with our card. We asked when they'd charge us and were told by phone we'd pay in person at check-in the next day. I explained that the money was in savings to protect it, and I didn't want an unexpected charge. An employee on payroll reassured me they wouldn't try it, and I even said it wouldn't go through if they did. Sure enough, at 7 a.m., before I was up, they tried to charge the card. The hotel knew the funds were secured in savings until check-in. Within two hours of them taking my reservation away and giving the trip away, I called and explained they'd made a catastrophic mistake that had effectively ruined a $1k trip for a Reagea festival. They wouldn't take responsibility, blamed me, said they didn't care, and told me the room was gone. Nothing I said about the call the day before or their breach of contract seemed to register. Their scripted replies felt insulting, like a humiliation ritual where they stole my reservation and blamed me for their own failure. It felt very satanic. They knew I had the money ready for when they said to pay, and I'd called precisely because of the fraud issue. They owe me 3 or 4 free nights, though they made clear during that phone humiliation ritual that this isn't going to happen. I'm coming to this year's reaggea rise up and will stop by to settle the debt before I leave town. Don't hide from the problem you created. If you fix it, I'll take down this review. I always offer a way out, it's up to you whether to accept.

Anthony made Christmas wonderful for my two daughters when I couldn't afford to buy them gifts. He made sure they had presents, and I can't thank him enough. He's always cheerful, positive, and attentive whenever we see him. He also shared information about a couple of resources my family needed. Honestly, every employee has been amazing and has a great spirit with my kids. Anthony is a real asset to the business. Thanks for everything you've done and continue to do for my family and me.

I travel all over the country for lineman work and like Red Roof inn. Some locations are nicer than others, but I've never stayed at one I disliked. The service is great, the rooms are clean, and it's quiet. I've never had an issue at any of the Red Roof inns.
