The Exchange Hotel

The place was filthy, and the price they charge for it is hard to believe. The stairs were covered in dirt, the rooms are old, and the wood around the sinks was badly broken. There were drunk guests slamming doors in the hall, and the gym ceiling fan looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. We’re here for a week, but the pool and elevator don’t work, and our key card stops working every other day. Hotels should have to disclose these problems during booking. I wouldn’t recommend it to a family, or to anyone.

The photos gave us the wrong impression. The room and the front entrance were dirty, the room smelled of cigarettes, and there were ants all over the bathroom. The hallways were dirty too, and the staff were unpleasant. We found no bar, food or drink service, and the pool and elevator were out of order. For these rates, they need to do much better. I wouldn’t send a friend here, let alone an enemy. Zero out of ten.

We couldn’t get back into the hotel after a concert at 2 a.m. The front door was locked, no one came when we knocked, and we hadn’t been told it would be locked. We’d only been told the back and side doors would be locked at 10 p.m., but both were actually left wide open. There’s no 24-hour front desk, and parking isn’t provided, so you have to find a spot yourself. The room was full of bugs on the beds, floor, and even in the shower and bathroom. I changed the sheets myself since there’s no 24-hour housekeeping. The next day management knew there was a problem, but housekeeping only took out the trash and replaced washcloths. They left the bed unchanged and didn’t clean up the bugs. Management acted surprised, though reviews on Google show they know about the issue. The online photos were photoshopped, in my view. The hotel, views, and scenery didn’t look like them at all. I booked because Booking.com showed a 4.3 rating, while Google showed 3.4. I think it deserves a 1. Don’t book here.

The room itself was clean and the bed was comfortable, but it was hard to get a decent night’s sleep. The sheer white curtains let in all the light, so by 7 a.m. the room was too bright. There were only five TV channels, the smart TV features wouldn’t open, and the bathroom had no soap. The shower curtain was too short to keep water off the bathroom floor. I wanted to ask about it, but the front desk staff disappeared after 7 p.m. Guests who arrived on a late flight were left waiting for hours with no one working in the building, and I’m not sure they ever got checked in. Before the stay, we called for over a week trying to get information and never reached anyone. Parking was a mess too. They advertise on-site parking for $10, but the lot is tiny, so we had to pay over $40 at a nearby garage. There’s no bar, vending machine, or other on-site amenity, and the lobby is nearly bare, with blank walls and hardly any furniture or decor. It was one of my strangest stays. There’s no parking to count on, no amenities, and no real customer service. I’d save my money and stay somewhere else.
