La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Brunswick/Golden Isles

The stay was affordable for our dog, with a $25 pet fee, and the quiet grounds had plenty of grass and room to walk her. We arrived at 2 a.m. after a long drive, and the front desk welcomed us kindly. Our American Bully was thrilled and wiggly, especially when she got a treat. Morning staff were just as friendly at checkout after breakfast, and the cleaning crew was already busy; everyone greeted us warmly. The rooms were clean and spacious, though the carpets could use cleaning, as is common in hotels, and the shower head should be scrubbed better to prevent mold. I recommend the hotel and would happily return on future road trips.

Breakfast was the one weak spot for me. The eggs were awful, with no toppings to cover the bland taste, and most hotels offer more variety. Fresh fruit and other healthy choices would help. Still, I'd definitely stay again because the rest was so nice. It's a clean, comfortable, friendly hotel with cozy decor, a kitchenette, a couch area, and two TVs in our room. There are plenty of amenities, and the back side has a great view. It was quiet and peaceful, with no traffic noise. The area is nice enough to walk to restaurants, and I'd recommend Toucans.

Everything else was great: the hotel is brand new, the rooms and dining area were super clean, and the puppy area was fantastic. Breakfast is why I took off a star. The potatoes were completely raw, and the eggs were okay with sausage gravy, but there were no biscuits to go with the gravy and no other meat for anyone who didn't want sausage gravy. The rest was standard fare.

My customer service experience was awful. I waited almost an hour for a room I'd already paid for, because RHONDA at the front desk said my booked room wasn't available since I had used a third party company. The parking lot barely had any cars, though she also claimed the rooms were sold out, which was a lie. Then she said there were no keys. Customer service confirmed over the phone that my room was available. I walked back into the hotel while still on that call, and RHONDA was laughing as if it were funny before saying they did have my room and keys. I've never had this much trouble because a front desk clerk wasn't doing her job properly. When I asked her name because I planned to report the bad service, she gave me a fake one. She lied to customers as if this were something she did regularly and never apologized.
