Quality Inn Brunswick

We got to the room around 7 pm, went to work at 8:30, and returned close to 6 am. After sleeping for about an hour and a half, I woke to a roach crawling across the bed. It moved too fast for me to record, and when I shifted the bed I found a dead one on the floor. While we packed, shaking out our belongings so we wouldn't bring roaches back to NC, my lady spotted another crawling on the wall. I got a video and took it to the desk. We were in town for business after driving more than five hours, and the clerk Geder asked us to come back at 10:30 to handle it, even though checkout was at 11. We reported it as soon as it happened, but they offered only 15 percent. I asked for a full refund for the inconvenience, and Geder was going to go over her manager's head and give us 50 percent back. The manager, NANCY LUNA, told her not to refund anything and to call whoever we needed to, including the health department. NANCY LUNA had an attitude on the phone and asked what time we'd noticed the roach, then said we should have reported it at check-in. The lobby sign says to tell the front desk right away if you're dissatisfied so they can make it right, but that wasn't how we were treated. It was disgusting. Those roaches didn't just appear in the room, and they seemed to have been there the whole time. I don't recommend this place, especially for out of state travelers. Don't waste your time or money on these roaches.

The front desk was kind and helpful, the breakfast was good, and the bathroom was clean. But the room itself felt scary: rusty lamps and handles, very old curtains, and it seemed untouched since the 70s apart from the carpet having been removed. Some sketchy looking guests were outside smoking. We might have left if we hadn't just driven eight hours, but this was a last minute family emergency trip and little else was available. My regular hotel recommended this place, which upset me. I'd sleep in my car at a rest stop before ever booking a 2 star hotel again.

I checked out again within ten minutes. The room was filthy, damp and humid, with dirt and what looked like mold everywhere. I found a bug and had to kill it right away, and the door handle was broken. It looked nothing like the online photos. I only took a few pictures before leaving. I had my 18 month old with me and wouldn't keep her in a place that dirty. After only a few minutes there, I felt like I'd caught a disease.

We've been stopping at Quality inn on the way to our house in NC for almost 20 years, and we also stayed last week. The place has really gone downhill. Some furniture should've been thrown out ages ago, the rooms weren't properly clean, our toilet was loose, and we slept with a door that wouldn't lock. We left this morning very disappointed and are starting to look for another hotel nearby.
