Sonesta Simply Suites Stafford works well for a short trip or a longer visit, whether you’re traveling for business or with family. It’s a practical, relaxed place to stay.

I was there around three and a half weeks as an extra guest, so my name won’t show in the system. The room door wouldn’t lock properly, only the dead latch worked, and there were roaches. We didn’t complain about either. At first, though, there were other problems. On the first night I was accused of smoking because I’d put out a candle and incense after cleaning before moving to the next room. We asked not to be moved since we work nights and sleep during the day, but she kept moving us. We only got proper help once, and it wasn’t from her. I finally booked the whole month so we could keep our room. One day we declined housekeeping, but she said we weren’t allowed to. They came at 2:30 p.m., even though I need to get up for work at 5, so of course I said no. She let us stay, but then became rude. No morning greeting, just the receipt put on the desk for me to sign. Another time, my partner was being respectful and waited for her to finish talking when she came in. The manager looked at her and said, “you can’t speak?” My girlfriend isn’t a troublemaker, and said she was raised to be respectful. Once, when she asked for clean towels, the manager refused and told her to wait for housekeeping, while housekeeping told her to ask at the front desk. Eventually the attitude stopped. But after my girlfriend and I had a loud argument, the manager came over and told us to wrap it up and leave. Other people argue on the property at night and during the day, so I guess we argued too early? We paid on time and weren’t problematic. We’d paid that morning, got kicked out at 11 a.m., and didn’t get our money or deposit back.

I’d probably have given five stars, but there were some issues. On the first night, I couldn’t get into my room with the key. When I told the front desk, he first claimed there was no record of our check-in. He changed his tune only after my other half came in, then he produced a paper with my significant other’s name on it. We were also concerned the security deposit might be charged twice. We went back and forth a bit and eventually agreed we’d get the deposit back after checkout. I was too tired to keep arguing, so fine. Most places I’ve stayed have a breakfast bar, and I think one should be added here, or at least a coffee pot. Aside from that, the stay was just okay at best.

They told me I could no longer rent there because my baby, who had a stomach virus, pooped on the sheets I was trying to clean. So they can refuse service over baby poop? I’d already gone to Walmart for roach spray, awesome, and bleach because the rooms were infested with roaches, then cleaned the entire room myself. Before changing rooms, I cleaned that one deeply too. The maid only needed to remove the sheets. I tried to avoid trouble with the manager by cleaning my own room, and she still found an issue. I called the corporate owners of Sonesta, and they told me the manager has 29 complaints by herself and the property has over 14. He said that if the company keeps ignoring customers’ needs and its franchise decisions, it could be investigated and return to corporate ownership. I paid for a one-bedroom with a sofa bed as described online, but when I arrived it was just a one-bedroom. I called the front desk, and she said the sofa beds had been taken out of all the rooms and she had no rooms with two beds available. I had to stay one night with my six children while they looked for another room. The next morning they found one with two beds, and I’d paid for two days. On the third day, I wanted to extend, but they sold my room without warning before 9:30, so I had to take the same one-bedroom I’d had the day before. The next day I went to pay for another two-bedroom. Please don’t book a room here. It was a terrible stay. P.S. My name is Deja Wright. I have card receipts to prove I stayed there and what happened.
