Hampton Inn Staunton

The breakfast was skimpy, and the juice machine served what was barely flavored water. I also had to pay over $83 for my dog for a single night, and a tiny, crude microwave was apparently reserved for the so-called deluxe room. For all that money, my room at Hampton Inn - Staunton was shabby and looked untouched for 25 years, with dirty carpet and stained furniture. What a ripoff. It’s a disgrace that Hilton is associated with this place. I took photos to show what I mean.

We were on the way to visit the local Vineyards, and this worked out well for my wife and me. The room was clean, we slept well, and there was a decent little breakfast in the morning before we got back on the road.

The sunrise from the top floor, with the mountains in view, was stunning and worth getting up early for. The location was convenient, and the friendly staff made the hotel feel welcoming for our kids. Breakfast had lots of choices, too. Our room was a good size and mostly clean. There were a few small misses: the area around the toilet looked rough, the shower needed a wipe, and one coffee lid had a stain. The fridge was spotless, though. I’d stay again, but the elevator made me a little anxious, so the stairs might be better if elevators aren’t your thing.

There were some good choices at breakfast, but I was on my own and only have one hand free because I always need my cane, so no one was around to help me. The rooms also feel dated, and there just aren’t enough outlets. Beside the bed there was one plug, already taken by a lamp and clock, so I had nowhere nearby for my CPAP, phone charger, or watch charger.
