The spectacular views made a great impression, and we hope to come back during ski season. We stayed in unit 409 at Bear Claw, which was immaculate, welcoming, and well appointed. The thoughtful personal touches made it feel more like a home than a hotel. Staff were attentive and helpful, and their recommendations were right on. It's ski-in, ski-out from the first floor.

The unit itself was clean and very nice, with good ski-in, ski-out access and a good shuttle. The rest of the stay was harder. The elevator was broken when we checked in, and management said it would hopefully be fixed soon. It stayed out for my entire week, so I had to climb five flights of stairs several times a day. Parking seemed limited, and management would only issue one pass per unit. They told us by email about a week before arrival and said they could suggest office parking. Once we got there, their best suggestion was to leave the car at Walmart in town and hope it didn't get towed.

This is our third year in unit 415, and we absolutely love it. The remodel is wonderful. Now that the kids are 11, they have a little more independence on the slopes and can ride Christie lift while I watch from the deck or table.

The elevator had already been broken for weeks before our stay, but we got no notice. We were told it needed a part, and there was no backup repair contractor, no discount, and no help. Ownership at Elevated Properties said they're not ADA compliant because of grandfathering in. Basically, tough luck. We had to haul ski gear, condo groceries, and luggage up four floors. Profits over customers!

We had a four-night stay, and the hallway was under construction the whole time. Plastic covered the entryways, there were holes in the walls, and drywall dust was everywhere. Happy Valentine's Day! Before staying at Bear Claw, check whether work is scheduled inside the building. The smoke detectors in our hallway were covered with painters tape for a while across two different days, and left that way overnight. This happened while there were water leaks near live electrical fixtures and lights. Residents and guests weren't given any notice. Not cool. There was also noise at night and into the early morning from Steamboat Snowcats working on the Lil Rodeo Terrain park right outside the Bear Claw condos. Depending on the room, you may hear them and their loud reversing sirens as they work on terrain features. Other problems piled up. Front desk staff entered our room keys incorrectly, so we couldn't get into the second building where our room was. They took over 15 minutes to figure out how to code the keys while we stood outside in a snowstorm with our luggage, up the hill between buildings. The coffee table was broken. The advertised washer and dryer had a broken dryer, so I had to walk through a snowstorm to another building to dry soaking wet ski clothes. Front desk staff didn't know there was a dryer in our building that could have saved me those two trips. The dishwasher wasn't secured in its cabinet and tipped out when opened. There was little food onsite, the vending machines were poorly stocked, and several Instacart and Uber orders were canceled over the four days. Advertised daily cleaning didn't show up on Valentine's Day. After I told the property manager that afternoon, the cleaning crew came at 7:45 pm that night. This once-great property seems to have lost its fastball. The building is dated, and ski-in, ski-out comes at a steep price. I'd stay down at the new base village instead. The Sheraton seems to have a good vibe and useful amenities, or you could find a vrbo or airbnb within walking distance of the stores, restaurants, and lifts.
