Gravity Haus Steamboat

I’m a full-time van-lifer, and when freezing weather hit and my heater started acting up, I booked Gravity Haus at the last minute. I hadn’t slept that well or felt that joyful in months. Mel at the front desk made me feel welcome, answered everything I asked, and had great suggestions. It has an upscale hostel kind of feel, with cozy, clean, well-equipped rooms. The lobby has a fireplace, books, and games, and there’s a good workout and wellness space, a lovely pool and sauna, plus a wonderful coffee shop. This is going to be my go-to spot all summer! 💖🙏🏼🚎🧘🏻‍♀️🏔️

Being ski-in/ski-out is what sold us on Gravity Haus Steamboat. The beds were comfortable, and the staff were friendly and mostly responsive. There’s a fairly good bar, along with dining, snacks, and breakfast. Some rooms, though, had a damp, almost sewer-like smell, and the rooms are old with worn furniture.

The ski-in, ski-out access is great, but the parking situation was awful. There was little to no space, and hotel guests paying to park seemed to get less priority than club members and restaurant diners. When we asked the front desk, they told us to keep circling and wait for skiers to leave around 4 pm. It was only 2 pm. Our updated room had paper-thin walls. For two nights, we heard the people next door all night despite using two sound machines and earplugs. The room even came with sound machines, so they seem aware of the noise problem.

The biggest problem was the entrance: ice and snow were left in place, and once the ice began melting the area by the doors became dangerously slick. Clearing it with a shovel would have been easy. The bar and restaurant were good, and most of the staff were pleasant. We stayed for a week in mid-January 2026. Our two-queen room felt cramped for two skiers. A few more wall hooks for coats and clothes would have helped, and it would be nice to get rid of the popcorn ceilings, which made the place feel like a 70s hotel. Would I come back? Probably not.
