La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Santa Clarita - Valencia

The room was clean and the location was handy after a long drive. The pet charge, though, was frustrating. La Quinta advertises a $35 fee with a $75 maximum, but I was charged the higher amount without any explanation. I stayed one night with one exceptionally well-behaved, non-shedding dog. If they charge the maximum regardless of how long you stay or what pet you have, that should be made clear in advance. Check-in was rough too. The woman at the desk was curt and didn’t tell me where my room was, explain breakfast, or share anything useful. Nobody warned me that my key card could demagnetize near my phone, which is apparently still a thing. I got locked out and had to walk back to the desk with my hands full. The gentleman who had taken over was polite and helpful, and explained the issue. The air conditioner wouldn’t stay on, so sleeping was uncomfortable. The convenient location and clean room were good, but unclear fees, uneven service, and basic comfort problems made the stay more irritating than it needed to be.

We all slept well, and my husband and I both found the beds really comfortable. The whole place looked super clean, from the rooms and bathroom to the lobby, breakfast area, and outdoor pool patio. The elevators made getting to the top floor easy. It’s very close to Magic Mountain, and there’s a nice grassy area at this dog friendly hotel. If we bring our fur baby next time, we’ll keep it in mind. Breakfast had great options and we left happy. Definitely coming back!

The room rate was a bit lower than comparable rooms at other chains, and I was happy we stayed. The bedroom was clean and attractive, with a mini-fridge and small microwave, and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was just okay. Options included a sausage patty, spicy potatoes, thin egg patties, little waffles, toast, oatmeal, yogurt, and apple or orange.

I’ve stayed here three separate times and have enjoyed each visit. It’s a clean, quiet, budget-friendly place, with especially clean rooms and comfortable beds. The soaps and shampoos are nice, and I liked the fitness center and hot tub. I didn’t try the pool, though it looked nice. There’s also a water bottle fill station in the fitness room, which I appreciated. Breakfast is the usual hotel spread: eggs, sausage, toast, cereal, yogurt, and make-your-own waffles. I’m not a big hotel breakfast person, but I liked having a banana, and the coffee was good.
