I’m glad I found this lovely little motel through hotels.com, and I’ll book directly next time. Stone Harbor is such a beautiful Shore town, safe, clean, and lovely, and the adorable Sun N Sand Motel fits right in. My family and I needed a last-minute place for a wedding at the Reeds, since we didn’t want to drive an hour home afterward. Apartment #8, a two-bedroom unit, was perfect for me and my adult children. It had everything we could’ve needed for an extended stay, though we were only there one night, and it was comfortable and clean. This apartment has a full size refrigerator, too. We could easily walk to town and the beach, and I’m looking forward to staying here the next time I’m in Stone Harbor. One note about the photos: I took them as we were leaving, not when we arrived, so the beds look a little messy after we’d slept in them.

A small, quaint hotel with a pleasant walk to the beach. The room was clean, parking was free, and there’s an outdoor shower for rinsing off beach items. The price is very fair, especially in peak Jersey Shore season.

I spent a week here and loved it. The owners are very nice, and it’s a family owned business. The location is great, in a quieter area than downtown, with the beach just a short walk away. Beach tags are provided, and there’s free parking in the area. I had a two queen room, not a suite, and it was just right for me. It was clean and quaint without feeling outdated. The small bathroom worked fine and had soap, shampoo, a hair dryer, and plenty of towels, replenished daily. There’s a fridge but no freezer. The only things I missed were a microwave and coffee maker, but there are lots of coffee and breakfast spots within walking distance. The outdoor shower was great and stocked with shampoo and soap.

Unit #1 was cozy, though small, and had a refrigerator, TV, and two queen beds. My main priority is clean rooms, linens, and towels, and everything was very clean. The property is well maintained, there’s plenty of parking, and grills are available outside. It felt safe, the staff were friendly, and we’d stay again. My only complaint was that our unit didn’t have an AC unit. We managed for the night with the ceiling fan and an open window, but next time we’ll make sure to get a room with AC. :)

John and Merry have made this place feel like home for me and my wife over more than 30 years of visits. They’re accommodating about just about anything, and I think of them as old friends. There are two-bedroom efficiency apartments for small families who need the space, along with five comfortable motel rooms. It’s not the Ritz-Carlton, but it’s clean and comfortable, very close to town and only two and a half blocks from the beach. The prices are always affordable. If you need a beach badge, John and Merry have you covered. The office also has great books they’ll lend out and some board games for kids. We’ll definitely be back.
