Outbound Stowe Hotel

The best part was the location on the mountain road. The shuttle picks you up right outside, so I'd consider staying again for that alone. I booked pretty last minute with Chase points for a quick ski trip, and all the staff were kind and helpful. The main building is clearly an older place that's been remodeled. The room looked nicer in the photos, but wasn't bad, and the bed and linens were clean and comfortable. I suspect housekeeping turned our room around quickly and missed some things: the previous guest's daily contacts had been left piled on the nightstand. Noise was the biggest problem, as others have mentioned. The walls felt paper thin, and we could hear full conversations and every little sound next door. Then at 3, 4, and 5am there was nonstop loud stomping and walking above us, like someone was trying to get their 10,000 steps in at the worst possible time. It was hard to sleep before an early start on the slopes, and we didn't get a good night's rest either of the two nights we stayed. We didn't use any amenities, though the fire pits and bar area looked cute. We booked a classic king room, but I'm fairly sure the bed was only a queen. That's fine, but it wasn't advertised accurately. It wasn't a bad stay, but I wouldn't call it a luxury one.

The restaurant was great, and the staff there were outstanding. They make a great Old Fashioned cocktail. The front desk girl was also incredibly nice and welcoming. It's a beautiful location, and the rooms have a cabin kind of feel even though most aren't cabins, though they do have cabins on site. The beds are comfortable. The wall heaters can be a bit loud, but they work well.

They made us feel special from the moment we arrived. The staff were incredibly kind, went above and beyond, and upgraded us for free to celebrate my birthday and our engagement. Our room was spotless, beautifully set up, and very comfortable. They even left a cute welcome bag with little goodies, such a thoughtful touch. We had a wonderful stay and can't wait to come back!

The room was spacious, the staff were generally friendly, the food was decent, and the location is very convenient for the ski area. We also appreciated that the hot tub stayed open in winter. Still, we left after two days with mixed feelings because the stay felt unprofessional. We fell twice, once in the bathtub, which is slippery, has a noticeable slope, and no anti-slip mat, and once on the icy walkway right outside our door where no salt had been put down. We're fine, but it's concerning to think what could happen to an older guest. The AC unit was very loud and kept waking me, so I turned it off and had trouble getting enough rest. Around midnight, someone knocked and tried to open our door with a key. It turned out the front desk had double-booked the room. That was frightening and shouldn't happen at a professionally managed hotel.
