The lodge has a fascinating, old-time feel, and it was interesting learning about the family. Our two rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable for our larger group. The kids loved the activity center and indoor pool, and we all enjoyed the hot tub. Afternoon tea with cookies was a really nice touch. We skipped the restaurant, though the menu looked tempting, and instead had delicious breakfast sandwiches at the kaffeehaus down the road. We all had a great couple of days at the von Trapp Family Lodge. First stay, but definitely not the last.

We were staying at a family member's house down the road and stopped to see the famous lodge and try the brewery's food before heading home. The staff were friendly and pointed out where we could go, and there's a great downstairs area by the lobby with pictures of the family. The mountain views are incredible. The brewery was packed, with nearly a two-hour wait, so we couldn't eat there this time. We'll try again in the future.

The people are what made this trip so special. Coming from NY, we're used to people not always taking extra time, but at Von Trapp the staff really cared about our experience and relaxation. They engaged with us and were all so kind. Tim, the Main Dining room host, was warm and welcoming whenever we ran into him, even off the clock, and made us feel like regulars. John, our shuttle driver, was friendly, got us around the property safely and efficiently, and took time to talk and share stories. Marissa gave us a thorough, funny, encouraging ski lesson. Chris P. at the outdoor center made the tours memorable with his stories and love for the land and animals. We came home with hundreds of photos and priceless memories, and this trip will always be special to us. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub, sauna, Fitness Center, Kaufeehaus, Bierhall, main dining room, and many of the activities. The Meet the Cows tour, Sugar House Maple tour, and cross-country ski lesson were all part of our stay. The welcome packet had a map of the grounds and a calendar of events. Our room was ready early, and the bell hop helped unload while parking was easy. We were greeted warmly on arrival and escorted in. The lodge feels like a home away from home, peaceful and welcoming. The renovations are gorgeous, the mountain views unmatched, and its location is convenient for town and nearby shops and restaurants. It felt like a slice of Austria in Vermont. Though family friendly, it was still a romantic, peaceful getaway for my husband and me. We saw couples, families, children, and guests who'd been returning for decades. Its rich history and family feel made the experience unlike anywhere else I've traveled.

We were lucky to have a beautiful snowstorm during our trip. The rooms were cozy, with wonderful views, and the staff were all helpful and kind. Food was excellent at every dining option, and we had great tours. Can't wait to come back!
