This is a Knights Inn now, not a Days Inn, though Days Inn-branded stuff was still everywhere. The man at the desk said it hadn’t been a Days Inn for years, and Knights was no longer affiliated with Wyndham Hotels, so I couldn’t get points for this stay either. The room was awful. There was a bug under a pillow, hair on the bathroom floor, and the tub looked a hundred years old. A washcloth was yellow, the space between the nightstands and bed looked like it had never been cleaned, and even the table lamp was rusty. In the morning, I told the same man, and he asked what I expected from a budget hotel, saying it was his best room. Not good.

We paid $70 and stayed there on 7/2/17 because it was our only option for the night. Nothing worked right: the place smelled like mold and mildew, fixtures were broken, the bathroom was dirty, there was no way to call the desk from the room, and the wifi didn’t work. It was the smelliest, dirtiest, most run-down “hotel” I’ve stayed in. I’d sleep in the car instead if this were your only choice.

The people were nice, but this place needs a renovation, more housekeepers and maintenance staff, and someone dedicated to keeping breakfast fresh and stocked. The poor maintenance guy seemed to be everywhere at once. If they had more staff, the rest must have been slackers. I checked in on 6-8-17 at 9:05pm. The man at check-in was really nice, but the room looked more like a motel than a hotel. After about half an hour of eating and watching TV, I went to shower and found the bathroom in a state that speaks for itself in the photos. Then I discovered the sheets were dirty. I called the desk and offered to change them myself, since I knew there wasn’t 24-hour housekeeping. The woman said someone would handle it in the morning. When I asked for clean sheets, she said the laundry room was closed and the manager could change them in the morning. So I slept on the top sheet. Breakfast the next morning was a mess: the orange and apple juice machine was broken, there was no coffee, the cereal looked old, and the mini muffins were hard. Another guest said, “I guess we get what we pay for.” I hadn’t budgeted for breakfast elsewhere, but I had to go out for it all three days I was there. There was more, too: the iron spit brown water, the hair dryer was missing, and the sink looked like wolverine had been playing in it. The longer I write, the more I want to call corporate for a refund, and I still might.

The shower was cold, and I was shivering the whole time. This place was run-down and dirty. The door didn’t seem to shut properly, there was a broken lamp, and one chair had what looked like sawdust on it. The bathroom door had rusty metal grates, and the toilet was dirty. There was some ancient hair dryer near the sink. I turned it on as a joke, and my husband joked it might blow out bugs. It felt like the kind of place shady characters stay in movies.

This place was really sketchy. The beds were awful, there was mold on the shower curtain, and the towels felt like sandpaper. That’s not what I expect from the Days Inn brand. They also said there was a new city tax of $1 that had to be paid in cash. Since they were being super awful about it, I paid in pennies.
