Hampton Inn Hazleton

The room was pretty nice for an unplanned overnight stop on a long drive, though every door slamming in the hallway was easy to hear. Breakfast was the main problem. The chocolate milk I picked up was spoiled, then the cranberry juice from the dispenser seemed oddly thick, almost gel-like. I tried the “strawberry water enhancer” too, and it was thick as well. That was really off-putting, but otherwise the stay was fairly nice.

The rooms aren’t terrible, but they’re overpriced for what you get, and you pay extra for the “nice view” side even though the markup isn’t worth it. This place is cheap and badly managed. No matter how many nights you stay, you only get 2 towels, 2 wash cloths, and 2 hand towels. The AC won’t go below 70 degrees. The manager blamed corporate in Buffalo for that, but that’s a lie. Breakfast is underwhelming, and being startled by slamming doors is just normal here. Definitely steer clear. It’s not worth the price.

The rooms have been updated, and the front desk service was excellent. Across the parking lot, Top of the 80s is a surprisingly great restaurant, and the view there is spectacular, so give it a try. I took off a star because the walls are really thin and breakfast is very limited.

The staff are always friendly, greeting you and making it feel like home while you’re away. My one gripe was that my room didn’t have a regular chair where I could watch TV and unwind after a long day.
