Super 8 by Wyndham Hazleton

The area felt quiet, peaceful, and safe, and the room had everything I needed. There was a fridge, microwave, ironing board, body wash, shampoo, and plenty of towels. The bed was very comfortable with lots of soft pillows. The wall mounted AC and heat worked great when it got cool, with no smell or unusual noise. I was in town for a few business nights, and the price was much more reasonable than the other places. There’s lots of parking at this two story motel with outside entry. The couple at check-in were extremely nice and helpful, and the cleaning crew was outstanding. As others have mentioned, Denny's is across the road, Perkins is recommended, and Turkey Hill is close enough to walk to for snacks or a quick breakfast sandwich. All in all, an outstanding stay.

The breakfast was pretty disappointing, maybe one star. There was coffee, orange and apple juice, a few apples and bananas, Little Debbie oatmeal cakes, honey buns, and tiny packaged muffins. I wouldn’t really call that breakfast. The staff were nice and pleasant, though. The room was clean and nicely updated, with vinyl plank floors, attractive bathroom flooring and vanity, and a tub with a handrail and non-slip surface. The shower had a good spray but the gray part of the showerhead looked improperly attached and needs repair. The bathroom floor and area around the toilet smelled of urine, as if they hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly. Luckily, we had bleach in the car. I’d give the room 4.5 stars. This was an older independent property before the new owner made it into a Super 8, so it has outward-facing doors.

The location is handy, just off the highway and close to restaurants and stores. We stayed one night on the way to Vermont, and the office manager was kind and helpful. He even let us check in an hour early because we were so tired. Housekeeping was respectful, too. I loved the wood or vinyl floors since I hate carpet and all the secrets it holds. The beds were comfortable, with plenty of blankets and pillows, and the small bathroom was clean with soap provided. The towels were rough and absorbed nothing, so they really need replacing. It has a few very minor issues, but it was clean, quiet, and friendly, and close to a perfect hotel. I’d stay again.

It’s right off I-81, with plenty of restaurants nearby and Denny’s directly across the street. The rooms are clean and pretty typical for an interstate motel. Nothing special, but it’s dog friendly and I’d recommend staying here. There are plenty of much worse hotels out there.
