Hampton Inn Sulphur Springs

On our wedding night, we were exhausted after being denied early check-in, and then the shower didn't work. The front desk had to come fix it, and once we finally got in, there was no shampoo or conditioner. I used this hotel for our wedding room block, and arranging it was a headache from the start. I called several times and was told only manager Jessica could help. Even when I called at the times they said she would be working, I was told she wasn't there. Once I finally reached her, setting up the block was simple, and she offered us a king suite at the discounted rate, which was great. A few weeks before the wedding I called to confirm our room because no confirmation email had arrived. I spent about 45 minutes talking to several employees who couldn't find the reservation or block information. I asked for Jessica, was told she wasn't working, and was told to call again. When I called back, I still never spoke to her, but was told she had forgotten to book our room. We eventually got confirmation details. If you're planning a wedding, save yourself the headache and find different accommodations for you and your guests.

The other staff are good people, but Jessica is rude and disrespectful. She seems to change from day to day, and I don't understand how she's the manager. A bad day isn't a reason to treat people badly. If you don't like the job, don't come in or find another one. Customers like us pay the bills, and there are young women working under you who could do the job. She also seems to charge different prices depending on how she's feeling that day, higher if she wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and lower when she's in a better mood. Jessica acts like having the job gives her authority.

This is probably the nicest hotel you'll find in Sulphur Springs, and the staff were friendly. Our room was pretty good, though some cosmetic repairs were needed. They were in the process of remodeling. The interstate and main road made it a little noisy outside, so maybe ask for the east side of the building rather than the west. We reached breakfast at 8:10 Saturday morning and most of it was gone. I got the last sausage, hard-boiled eggs were gone, the waffle batter was strange and runny, muffins were hard, eggs were runny, and apples were old. At least we could fill our water bottles and grab a banana before heading to Cooper Lake State Park for hiking.

The bed was clean and really comfortable, which is why a three feels generous. The rest of the stay was not good. The refrigerator didn't work and ruined my food, the bathroom sink didn't work, there were broken tiles in the bath area, and the corners were nasty and hadn't been cleaned. Management promised to look into this mess but didn't follow through. My previous stay at Clarion Point was way better, no comparison. Go there.
