Homewood Suites by Hilton Summerville

We enjoyed our first week enough to book another: we went home for the weekend between two business weeks at the Homewood Suites in Summerville. The second stay is in a King bedroom suite with lots of space, cold A/C, and two dining chairs, and so far it's going well. The first week was in a King studio with a faulty thermostat. I told the front desk the next morning, and maintenance came right away and replaced it in just a few minutes. The A/C then worked great. The maintenance guys were polite and nice. We also asked for a second chair at the dining table so we could eat together, and it arrived fairly quickly. Across both visits, we've found the staff friendly, the downstairs lobby/bar area pleasant, and the room and hallways clean. The pool is gorgeous, parking is free and plentiful, and there's a walking loop path/sidewalk you can reach from the hotel lot.

The kitchenette was just a sink, little fridge, microwave, and coffee pot, with no stove, dishes, or silverware. We also expected more from the ad's mention of a bar and restaurant. It turned out to be a small bar attached to Starbucks, which is also the kitchen area. There wasn't a free breakfast bar or anything, so we're not coming back.

The pool was great, and I liked that wristbands helped keep random outsiders out. Breakfast was good, and the staff were attentive. Ms Ana at the front desk was especially kind and helpful. The local traffic gets busy, but that's Charleston for you. Our room was very clean and had the basics for cooking and eating. The A/C worked well, the beds were comfortable, and the extra pillows and blankets in the closet smelled fresh.

Good service, a nice place, and reasonable prices. It's close to plenty of amenities and sits just outside Charleston, so it could be a good go-to if you want to stay nearby without spending too much.
