Quality Inn Sumter near Shaw AFB

The toilet seat was somehow the cleanest thing in the room, though it was a couple sizes too small. This was the only place left in town, which is why we booked it. I’d rather have slept in a tent during a hurricane. They need to shut this place down.

The restaurant was the one bright spot. They gave us a free breakfast plate with coffee, eggs, grits or potatoes, toast, and bacon or sausage. The hotel itself is being renovated painfully slowly. There were huge potholes in the lot, trash outside, mold on the bathroom walls, and dirt on the room door and floor. Our beds were made, trash emptied, and towels replaced on only three of our four nights. The pool had been closed by the health department. I won’t stay again until they clean the place up.

My room was in good shape, clean, and comfortable, with friendly reception and great housekeeping. The outside looked plain and messy because renovations were underway. The pool looked nice, though I didn’t use it.

We booked two nights and left after one because the place was disgusting. The advertised breakfast buffet was just two eggs, potatoes, and grits, hardly a buffet. What they advertise and what you get are completely different. The place is trash, and sleeping in the car would’ve been better. They should close it until the renovation is done or tear it down and rebuild. Stop ripping people off, and don’t trust the good reviews.
