The deer pattern on the bedding and decorations was a detail I loved. Our king room was huge, with lots of pillows, a recliner, and a dinette table. The shower was hot and there were plenty of towels. The owner was very nice, and the main office and breakfast area were spotless. My daughter and I had stopped on our way to Devils Tower when a bad storm came in, and fortunately they had one room left. We had breakfast and hot coffee before heading back out. I highly recommend staying here.

The owner was kind and helpful, and you can tell she takes care of the motel. We were four adults and four kids traveling together overnight toward Bighorn Mountain. The beds and room were nice, and the showers were clean and hot. The renovated lobby and breakfast area were clean and smelled great. We’d definitely stay again.

The beds were a bit too firm, and mattress toppers would make the place even better. Still, we’d return because Jill’s caring hospitality beats what we’ve had at many other places. Our plans for a Devils Tower road trip were loose, and we accidentally ended up at some cabins in Hulett that felt overpriced. We called Deer Lodge motel from their parking lot, and Jill was so friendly she offered to hold us a room, even though we were 45 minutes away. We made a beeline for it. It’s an older motel, but CLEAN, with tasteful, understated paint and nice decorations, including flowers and a brick flower bed out front. There’s also a salon, barbershop, and massage place on the property, though they were closed for Labor Day. The rate felt fair given that we had our dog, hadn’t booked ahead, and it was a holiday weekend. At check-in Jill was pleasant and told my husband about the area. Our room had a mini fridge, microwave, TV, coffee maker, and window AC. The AC was appreciated, though too noisy to sleep with; the room stayed cool anyway. Other guests were quiet, and we were conveniently near a couple gas stations and a market. The room was clean, and the tub and shower had plenty of hot and cold water. After a long day of driving and sightseeing, the shower was great. The tub drained slowly, so we mentioned that to Jill at checkout. We’ll be back, Jill. Keep up the improvements to this little gem!

A couple of things to plan around: the office is closed from 8 pm to 8 am, and breakfast wasn’t ready early enough for us to eat before leaving. Still, I’d highly recommend this clean, quiet, cozy family-run place. The rooms are quaint, and the staff were friendly and professional.

It’s not a five-star resort, but it is a great family-run place with clean rooms and good service. Our room was updated and CLEAN, the beds were comfy, and everyone was helpful and nice. We loved our stay and will come back if we’re in the area.
