Comfort Inn & Suites Susanville

The location worked well for what we needed, and parking was easy. We found our room clean and just right for us, with a clean and comfortable feel throughout the area. The staff were kind and helpful, and there was plenty of good breakfast.

A nice surprise. The room was spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable, and getting in was easy with plenty of parking. Staff were friendly, too. We also found a better selection of TV shows than we’ve seen in a hotel for quite a while.

I was disappointed to find breakfast closed when I went down. The little Wi-Fi instruction sheet lists the hours as 6 to 10 AM, but that schedule only applies on weekends. Breakfast was one of the reasons I booked here, so that mix-up was discouraging. The stay itself was generally good and the room acceptable, though a bit dirty. There were still hairs on the bathroom floor, which made me question how attentive housekeeping had been.

The location was handy for some restaurants and a grocery store, though a bit far from main street. There’s no elevator to the second floor. Staff generally seemed friendly, but if you have a problem with your room, they might not help right away. The young man at the desk first said he couldn’t move us, even though the parking lot was nearly empty. After we talked it through, he put us in another room. It was somewhat cleaner and smelled much better, so I left the window open for a couple of hours to get fresh air. My first room smelled strongly of mildew. The carpet looked dirty, there were dried splashes on the mirror, and the toilet seat had residue and was wet, as if it had been sprayed but not wiped dry. I’d never asked to change rooms before, but the smell was too much. The cleanliness seems to vary a lot, though the carpets all looked worn and pretty dirty. If the rooms were clean, I’d have rated the place a 4.
