Holiday Inn Philadelphia South - Swedesboro by IHG

I came for an event, and the ballroom looked gorgeous. The bathrooms were clean, and the staff were attentive and great from start to finish. The food was good, though I wish it hadn’t been buffet style.

We drove 8 hours for work with our cat, believing pets were allowed, and had already booked for over 30 nights. After we paid for the first week and unpacked the entire car, the man at the front desk saw the cat and told us we couldn’t stay. We’ve stayed here every year for work for years, and I’ve brought my grown pit bull before. Please be clear if cats aren’t welcome when you advertise that you “allow pets.” The black-haired woman at the front was super sweet, but I wasn’t a fan of my interaction with the other staff.

The door locked, and I managed to leave in the morning. That’s about all I can say in its favor. The smell of mold hit as soon as I entered the room and never went away. The place felt worn out, and the wallpaper was bubbling and peeling like it had quit. Everything worked, technically, but the room made even ordinary things feel like too much. I found myself hesitating before sitting down and wondering why I hadn’t checked reviews first. It had a run-down Vegas property feel, like somewhere that was exciting in 1983 and has coasted on those memories since. It provided shelter, I guess, but not much else.

We needed somewhere to spend the night in 2021 because our closing dates didn’t line up, and even though we lived only minutes away, the stay worked out well. The room was comfortable and clean. Our first assigned room had a plumbing problem, but they moved us quickly. They accommodated our pet then, which was a huge convenience, though I don’t know whether they still do. Breakfast the next morning was good. The location is handy for Route 295, Philadelphia, and Delaware, so I’d recommend it to anyone visiting family nearby or attending an event.
