Foster Lake Inn

The room was quiet at night, with a comfortable bed and simple, tasteful decor. The lobby, room, and shared spaces were all spotless and well kept, with small details that made the place feel welcoming. The owner was friendly from the moment I arrived and made me feel at home. It’s also a convenient base for exploring nearby. I’d happily stay at Foster Lake Inn again next time I’m in town.

Steve had good local tips and helped us figure out a route for our travels. We also loved being able to walk right next door to a great restaurant. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable.

The camp host/manager was rude and hard to deal with. He seemed more focused on cutting wood than answering our questions, so we didn’t get the sit-down conversation we expected. If in-person appointments are offered, I don’t understand why he couldn’t spend 20 minutes talking with us or just send an application online. Being courteous to potential customers costs nothing. I’d look for a different place to stay, even for a getaway. This would be a last resort for me; I’d rather sleep in a tent in the woods.

The best part for us was the setting, right across from Foster lake with trees all around. It was pouring the whole time, but the views were still lovely, with fog over the forest above the lake. The Point is close by, with great lake views and excellent food. Call ahead if you want one of the view tables. The staff there were friendly and attentive. We came in late after an event in Eugene, about an hour away, and arranging a late arrival was no problem. Our room had plenty of space, a private bathroom, working A/C, and a cozy, relaxing feel. Downstairs there’s a bar/desk and a fireplace with some neat history. Tracy and Steve, the owners, were warm and accommodating to my boyfriend and me. They helped us find a room for the right time at a reasonable price, and Steve gave us helpful directions, including advice to stick to the main freeway to avoid deer at night. We’re already planning another stay at the end of July, when hopefully the weather will be better and we can enjoy the area more.
