Best Western Plus Tacoma Hotel

The modernized hotel was clean and had nice, accessible amenities. Our room was clean too, the breakfast selection was good, and there were hot options like potatoes, bacon, sausage, and eggs. Someone was always at the front desk to answer calls. But our catalytic converters were stolen, and someone else’s vehicle was started on but not finished. With one person working at night, it would have helped to have more staff. I wasn’t told about the incident until about seven hours later, on the morning we were checking out. Staff seemed sympathetic, but didn’t do much to accommodate us. We got one complimentary night, but only a discount on the next night. We had to put down a nearly 50% deposit to meet our side of the deal, and that deposit hadn’t been mentioned when we booked. I expected the hotel to do its part to keep our belongings safe on its property. What’s the point of a security guard if he can’t handle common car theft? Locals told us afterward it happens a lot in the area. He needs backup or better equipment. We were visiting from out of state and didn’t know the area well. Don’t let the pretty hotel fool you, TACOMA IS NOT A SAFE PLACE TO STAY!

Edit: I definitely stayed at your hotel, lol. Reservations can be under one person's name even when other guests are with them. The booking was under my partner's name, and you replied to his recent review too. Nice try. Our stories are exactly the same, so you know who I am. I came to the front desk about this and nobody helped or seemed to care. They acted clueless after I fell in YOUR pool area. I also shouldn’t have to come downstairs to collect extra blankets or towels after calling for them. Whenever we needed something, we had to do the work ourselves. The breakfast wasn’t cooked, it was microwaved. You said I couldn’t bring my service dog, even though there were other service dogs there. The shiny, slippery stones around the pool make it easy to fall even if you walk carefully. I fractured my tailbone and had to stop at the hospital on the way out of town. I also hit my head on the pool restroom toilet when I fell a second time, just minutes after the first. When we extended our stay, we switched to the Murano. You should have comped our whole stay. I’m changing my review based on your reply. Thanks. We’d only spent our first day and night there and still hadn’t left, but I wasn’t looking forward to staying again. The place was very clean and quiet. Still, nobody offered us a luggage cart, and they watched us make several trips without telling us there was one. The beds were too hard and left both my partner’s back and mine hurting. The pillows were awful, and the thin blankets slid right off. There wasn’t enough light in the middle of the room, so the light mostly had to come through the open blinds. I dreaded sleeping in that bed again and wished I’d bought insurance so I could cancel the night and go elsewhere. For a place this nice, I expected it to be comfortable.

The room was clean and comfortable, the service was wonderful, and the hotel felt new and well maintained. My one complaint was the AC, which kept swinging between too hot and much too cold. Even so, this hotel turned our trip around. We’d been having a disappointing time visiting Washington and Oregon from Utah, with poor food, service, and hotels, and were feeling pretty down. The breakfast here was the best food we had on the whole trip. There were so many good options, and the biscuits and gravy make me want to sleep here every night. We loved our stay and will choose Best Western again.

The room was mostly clean, though there were tiny black ants in the bathroom and entryway. My husband told the front desk, and housekeeping eventually cleaned the floors, but the ants stayed.
