Granlibakken Retreat Near Tahoe Beach!

We had everything we needed at Granlibakken, and the staff were so helpful and kind. During our honeymoon, we stayed cozy in our suite despite the snow outside, watching the snowfall and fire from the living room and stargazing from the patio at night. The hot tub was beautiful while it was snowing, and it stayed hot; having a sauna to dry off in meant we felt refreshed instead of freezing. We don’t often get that kind of luxury, and we were so happy with the stay. We definitely want to return.

There’s plenty to do in the snow on site, including play areas, a sledding hill, and a ski and snowboard lift, and the place is close to the lake. It’s a solid three-star stay, but the blankets weren’t warm enough for winter. When I asked for more, I was told housekeeping gets upset about giving out too many. The WiFi also doesn’t work.

The heated pool and jacuzzi were what fascinated me most, and we enjoyed our stay enough to want to come back in summer. It’s near Palisade Lake Tahoe resort and plenty of restaurants. The room was the problem: nobody came to clean it, and despite paying a lot, it felt abandoned. The front desk said he was upgrading us, though the room was at the end of the resort. That didn’t matter in the end. Cheers.

After dinner, we spent time in the sauna and the surprisingly large hot tub. It fit our group plus several others without feeling crowded. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was fantastic, especially the ahi cones and lobster mac and cheese, and we got a delightful bottle of wine for $22. The staff were incredibly accommodating, bringing us pullout beds and finding us a last-minute restaurant table with a reservation. My friends and I had a wonderful ski trip stay at Granlibakken, and I’ll definitely be back.
