Extended Stay America Tampa North Airport

I would never stay at this location again after what I saw and experienced under its new management. I stayed at this Extended Stay location in Tampa for a long time, and things changed drastically when the new general manager, Kellie, took over. The environment became deeply uncomfortable and, in my experience, unprofessional. I repeatedly saw guests treated in ways that felt hostile and discriminatory. Kellie seemed to speak differently to people depending on who they were, and several long-term guests talked openly about similar concerns. One incident especially disturbed me: management made offensive assumptions about a guest’s personal circumstances and health based on their appearance, instead of showing compassion or professionalism. I also saw employees spoken to harshly in front of others, openly insulted, and criticized in a humiliating way. I personally received comments and treatment that left me feeling targeted and unwelcome because of who I am. Guests should feel safe and respected, and that wasn’t my experience. Hotel management sets the tone, and I believe corporate ownership should seriously look into what’s happening at this property.

I booked one night in a non-smoking room with a Deluxe Queen bed. Check-in went fine, but the door opened without a key, the room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and there were two tiny beds instead. At the desk, I was told no Deluxe Queen rooms or non-smoking rooms were available. They also couldn’t refund my card and had added a $100 room damage deposit on top of the Deluxe room charge. I ended up spending the night at an airport hotel across town.

I've been at the Extended Beaumont, tampa location for the past month because it’s near my job and my children’s school and daycare. The staff have been great. Selena at the front desk greeted me with a smile when I first arrived, answered all my questions and concerns, and the rest of the team have been so helpful too. I really appreciate them all. 🙏🏽💓😊 The downside is that you have to clean your own room during a longer stay. There was no cleaning service.

The staff were amazing and helped me with everything I needed, but they can’t do much about the cockroach problem. There are far too many. The hotel needs more thorough bug spraying or changes to the cleaning staff, along with stronger support for the front desk and better attention to cleanliness. I’ve traveled to third world countries and served in the army, so this isn’t the worst hotel I’ve stayed in, but it’s definitely below standard. There’s little excuse for a cockroach problem this bad.
