The room was generous in size, and check-in felt so welcoming. I also liked the quiet, pretty setting. But there were too many problems for me to overlook. The toilet was absurdly low, even for someone like me who’s only 5 ft. The room lighting was good, but the bathrooms were so dim that makeup and contacts were hard to deal with. The bedding also seemed old. Breakfast was a letdown. Lots of people were asking about eggs and waffles, normal hotel options, and what was available tasted bland and didn’t fit together very well. The confusion and complaints were hard to miss, so we skipped breakfast on our last morning and checked out. At the desk, the woman seemed annoyed to pause eating, and kept her phone call on speaker while checking us out. That’s not the Marriott experience I expected. I won’t stay at this location again.

We stayed one night before a cruise and had a great time. Sassy was wonderful, the room was clean and spacious, and breakfast had plenty of good choices. The hotel is in a lovely area with restaurants and stores nearby, and it was easy to get back onto I-75.
Just a quick weekend visit. We were warmly welcomed on arrival, and Sassy was friendly, courteous, and really helpful. Her smile was a bright spot throughout our stay. The room was comfortable and clean, and the breakfast area stayed well stocked. Thanks to the staff for being so courteous. We’ll definitely come back.
The room had a strong, odd smell, though it had been cleaned, and the location was okay. My bigger concern was the service. Mrs. Jay needs customer service training and shouldn’t be the face of the hotel. Early one morning I asked her about breakfast hours because my son had an early game and needed something to eat before we left. I hoped to grab a banana. She was curt and unfriendly, never looked at me, kept shuffling papers, and didn’t help. She told me, with her back turned, that I should have paid more in advance for an early breakfast. I walked away and thanked her rather than respond with the same rudeness. I never got a banana, though my son did find something to eat. I called Mr. Jerry to share ideas for improving the breakfast experience and tell him about my interaction with Mrs. Jay. The call about breakfast was respectful, but he didn’t want to take responsibility for making changes and redirected me to an organizer, even though I wasn’t part of the Marriott-organizer contract. When I tried to describe my experience with Mrs. Jay, he shut me down quickly and said there was a legal review about something from the weekend. I understand he may not be able to comment on that review, but I feel he could have listened first and then explained that. Instead, he wouldn’t hear me out. Thank you, Mr. Jerry and Mrs. Jay, have a pleasant morning.
Delores at the front desk went above and beyond. Our booked queen accessible room wasn’t available because another guest had extended their stay, so she arranged two rooms for the same price, including a king accessible room adjoining the other. My friend needed to go to Moffitt Cancer Center for radiation after brain surgery a month earlier, so that arrangement really helped us. Delores also knew my birthday was coming up Sunday and gave me a thoughtful little gift bag. Tracy checked in by text to see how our stay was going, too. That kind of top flight service is why Marriott is my main hotel choice. Delores deserves a big raise and promotion for the great work she does at SHS. We’ll be back soon!
