Okie Dokie Cabins

We haven’t stayed yet, but I’ll keep reviewing this place every day until our check-in day and file a complaint. My dad and I go to NH often and always look for a cabin with a fireplace or wood-burning stove. Anne said some cabins had them, and the listing seemed to say the same. She booked us into one without a fireplace and didn’t tell me until a week beforehand. I asked for my money back, but she refused and gave me a story. I checked Bookings today and saw that a cabin with a fireplace is available. I’ll complain to the Better Business Bureau every week until I get my money back. These people don’t care about their customers. She upcharges for everything without telling you until you arrive. They also make you sign a document, so read every word. I didn’t sign it because I don’t trust her or her husband. I had requested a cabin with a wood stove, but they booked me into a different one. Mistakes happen, but I just want my money back and they won’t give it to me. Every bad review here is absolutely true.

We called the owners to say the legal releases seemed excessive. We weren’t planning to sue over our stay, but weren’t comfortable with wording that was heavily tilted in their favor. We’d booked for early summer and were met with a pile of paperwork, including demands to release them from liability and promises not to sue for any reason, even if bitten by insects. The owners started yelling, said we were no longer welcome, and told us they would keep our money before hanging up. Now we have little choice but to sue to get it back. We would have taken the issue to the BBB, but Okie Dokie isn’t recognized by them. Save yourself the hassle. Do not stay here.

Odd little place, and the smells and prison-like mattresses other reviewers mentioned rang true to me. They ask you to sign away your rights when you arrive. I don’t think anyone should have to sign an indemnity for a hotel or cabin stay. There aren’t many choices in the area, but I’d go somewhere else rather than be asked to waive their liability.

Mike was so kind and welcoming, and the cabin was clean, cozy, and comfortable. We had a great camping stay, one of the best we’ve had. We went the first weekend in October for our daughter’s birthday, with some daytime fun at Clark’s and Storyland. We enjoyed lots of campfires and meals outside. We’ll definitely return and recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet, cozy, family-friendly stay.
