Quality Inn Taos

Our prepaid booking was canceled after flight delays meant we arrived at 2 a.m. Apparently the 24-hour reception doesn't mean you can check in that late. We had to pay for another reservation and got no money back. The front desk wasn't helpful: they said we needed the manager, but the manager wasn't there when they told us to return. Breakfast was closed by the cook before the posted end time, and nobody from housekeeping came during our three-night stay. The walls were very thin, streetlights made the room bright at night, and the dated facilities were only usable. The room also smelled a little. It was an okay stay, but there were a lot of problems.

I came to Taos hoping to get some relief from a sad time in my life. The moment I stepped into the lobby, I felt my spirits lift. The place is charming, and I liked that it had kept its original Taos character instead of being modernized. The room was pleasant, clean, and charming too. Getting the reservation sorted out was a mess. I spent ten minutes in my car on the phone with a Choice Hotel representative, who told me it was confirmed, but Israel at the front desk couldn't find it. I called customer service again, and my phone died while the representative was trying to redo what they said had already been booked. Israel was professional, attentive, and kind about how much I was dealing with, even just trying to make a reservation. He gave me a great rate and walked me to my room so I could find it easily. I don't see that kind of service much these days. I hope his management reads this and recognizes him, including with a monetary reward. You never know what someone is going through, so kindness should come first. God bless you, Israel!

The price was quite affordable, and we'd definitely return. It was a quiet, clean and comfortable hotel with older architecture. We appreciated how helpful all the staff were in pointing us toward places to visit.

The woman who began checking us in knew what she was doing and was helpful, but she was finishing her shift and a new guy took over. A few minutes after we got to the room, before we'd even unpacked, we heard a strange noise and couldn't tell where it came from. Then we got a call saying the neighbor had a baby and complained we were being too loud. I explained that we'd heard a noise and thought it might be coming from upstairs. I went to the desk thinking we should switch rooms, but he said it was fine. Later that night I could hear the neighbors talking clearly. The walls are way too thin, and I probably won't stay here again.
