Ms Mona Lisa was so kind and helped my grandparents feel safe and comfortable. My grandfather is an amputee, and there were no handicap accessible rooms available. Mr. Timothy Rollins also came in on his day off to help his coworker in the breakfast area. We really appreciated both of them. My family and I just finished a weekend stay at the Tappahannock location. We come to Virginia to visit family, and this hotel is close by. We travel often and care a lot about hospitality, while understanding that things aren’t always perfect. We were all impressed by how soft the beds were. As an IHG member, I’d absolutely recommend staying here.

Everyone was super friendly and the guest service was top notch. The Tappahannock Holiday Inn Express and Suites is much nicer than other hotels I’ve stayed in. I’d give it 10 out of 10 and recommend it!

The bed was comfortable and the A/C worked well, but I expected a cleaner room from Holiday Inn Express. There were mystery stains on the bathroom wall above the toilet, and the carpet near the bed and furniture needed a good cleaning. There was also a lot of dust. The room was just OK. I stayed a couple of nights to visit family, and the younger guy at the front desk gave excellent service and was pleasant every time he greeted me in the lobby.

The location was OK, with Walmart and a few other stores in the same parking lot and more shops nearby. My grandchildren liked breakfast, though the only sausage was turkey. The staff were mostly very friendly, and the rooms and facility were very clean. During our stay from 7/31/2025-8/2/2025, the pool was closed for maintenance, and they didn’t tell us until after they charged my card. The mattresses were extremely soft, which would be painful if you have a bad back or spinal condition. The toilet also feels like sitting down and getting up from the floor if you’re over 5'. Given the price and the mattresses, I wouldn’t stay again.
