Courtyard Tarrytown Westchester County

We've stayed at this location many times over several years and are long-time Marriott members, so the new daily parking fee came as a shock. This is probably the most expensive hotel in the area, and it's only accessible by car, so charging guests and members to park feels like a financial penalty. Very disappointing. We love the hotel, its location, and the helpful staff, so my rating isn't about this new policy. Hopefully someone rethinks this chintzy nickel-and-dime decision.

This is a convenient local hotel: clean, fairly modern, and staffed by friendly people. The layout can be awkward, though. The building forms a square around a courtyard, with the elevator at the far back corner, so it's only handy if your room is nearby. That won't keep me from returning, but I'll plan better next time. I'll definitely stay here again when I'm in the area.

The welcoming, friendly staff were a bright spot, though the hotel itself felt average. The bathrooms need renovation and look outdated. Also, the toilet water sat unusually high, making it uncomfortable to use. Updating the bathrooms would make a real difference to the guest experience.

The thermostat was useless, with the displayed temperature having no connection to how the room felt. It swung between freezing and blazing hot, with no comfortable middle. My room also reeked of cigarettes, so I had to switch rooms. The front desk staff weren't kind or helpful, and after trying to get a receipt I gave up. The door slammed shut because its closing mechanism was shot, which felt dangerous. The adjoining-room door was poorly sealed too. I could see light under it and hear the people talking next door. The elevator is almost comical: it's a long walk from check-in to a beat-up old elevator at the opposite corner of the building. At $200 to $300 a night, the place is a nasty mess inside and the worst hotel I've stayed in for the money. I'm a Marriott Bonvoy Member and travel extensively. There was also a group smoking weed and cigarettes by the front entrance. It seemed clear they rely on desperate business travelers. I would never stay here again. If this were the only property available next time, I'd cancel my business trip. I look forward to calling Marriott to tell them about this horrible experience. Don't stay here. This place is a dump. Avoid it at all costs. You've been warned!
