Hilton Garden Inn Columbus/Edinburgh

We didn't eat at the restaurant because of a food allergy, but did have drinks at the bar in the evening. There's a restaurant and bar right in the hotel, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean, and everything in the fitness center worked as it should. The pool area was clean and had plenty of towels, and we used the hot tub too. Kudos to the staff for a job well done. We'll definitely stay here again when we're in the area.

We had booked ahead, but when we arrived Justin, the second-shift concierge, had given our room to someone else and the hotel was full. Several events were happening nearby, and every hotel within 50 miles was booked, so we couldn't simply cancel and go elsewhere. We waited an hour in the lobby. They eventually put us in another room that had already been booked by someone else, leaving that guest in the position we'd been in. We hated doing that, but our daughter was with us, we were hours from home, and it was very late. We didn't see another option. The room was dirty and smelled terrible. Dust lay thick on surfaces people don't regularly touch, and there was trash and a box of condoms left behind. The heat/AC unit leaked so much it soaked a bag on the floor about two feet away. I paid over $200 for a musty, dusty, damp, dirty room with leftover condoms and a badly leaking unit. This is the Hilton, not the Economy Inn. Aside from an apology from the woman at the desk, the only remedy was free breakfast. It was much like continental breakfasts many hotels include at no charge, except they usually charge $15 per person for this one. It didn't make up for all the failures during my one-night stay. I definitely would not recommend it. We might have been better off sleeping in our truck. Go anywhere else.

Paige was very helpful when we checked in, and the server at dinner was excellent. Everyone was friendly, and the hotel was very clean. I highly recommend staying at this particular hotel.
