Homewood Suites by Hilton Olmsted Village (near Pinehurst)

A couple of the employees were great, but the stay was really difficult. After a fire and flood at home, our insurance company paid for nearly a month here. We were two adults, one child, and two dogs in one small room with two beds and one bathroom. This was the only hotel we could find that accepted our dogs, so we didn't have much choice. When we arrived, I took pictures of the bent curtains, damaged blinds, mold on the ceiling, and dents around the bathtub seal because I didn't want to be blamed for them later. We were told one housekeeper couldn't enter rooms with dogs because she was allergic, which we understood. I cleaned every day with my own supplies, sweeping and mopping, and even used bleach in the tub. So I was confused when, a few days after checkout, we were billed for deep cleaning, six pillows, and a comforter. The pillows were there when we arrived, and the comforter made my family itch. My insurance reimbursed me for sheets and pillows, but I still don't understand these charges. They took over $700 and I still haven't received a receipt. Getting keys made was a struggle, and the person handling that had an attitude. I left messages and notes for the manager, Mr. Eric, but he never returned my calls. He said the front desk hadn't passed along a note about our late checkout. I believe the woman working that night did pass messages along, so I don't understand how he didn't know. Mr. George was also very rude and not willing to help much. We were told we had until 3 o'clock to leave, and we did our best, but moving everything took time. Our house wasn't ready, our belongings were all in that little room, and we had to travel back from Raleigh to Pinehurst to get the dogs. I also found out I had the flu while trying to move. It wasn't pleasant. I don't know whether we were treated this way because we're not golfers or because of the color of our skin. I don't want to accuse them of racism, but I was left wondering. I'm not a Hampton person anyway, I'm a Marriott person, and this experience reminded me why.
