Baymont by Wyndham Tehachapi

I had a slip and fall during my stay, which was upsetting and a serious safety concern. Since then, I have tried several times to reach the General Manager by calls, emails, and messages left with the front desk, but have heard nothing back. Staff had said they would keep an eye on my motorcycle outside. While I was in the hospital, it was towed. When I called the desk to ask where it had gone, they said they couldn't give me that information and that I had to talk to management. With no response from management, I was afraid I could lose the bike because nobody would communicate with me. I have also lost my job and can't pay my bills, and the incidental deposit still hasn't been returned, even though it has been 10 days since the hold was placed. I wanted to sort all of this out over the phone, but have now filed a customer grievance with the Wyndham corporate office and may take it to a higher power. The lack of concern about guest safety and the poor communication are unacceptable. I'd tell others to stay elsewhere.

The rooms were okay, though nothing special, and the parking lot was poorly laid out and not well lit. Breakfast was mediocre even by continental breakfast standards: microwave biscuits and burritos, waffles, and I think about three cereals. I drink my coffee black, and that was fine. On our last night, the power went out. Apparently the hotel has no backup generator, which was quite an experience. The bigger problem came when my colleague and I had to cut our three-week business trip down to a few days after checking in. They refused to change our checkout date and said we would still owe for the whole stay if we left early. I've changed hotel bookings during work trips plenty of times and never run into that before. It was a subpar stay, and I've decided not to stay at a Wyndham again.

The room was filthy, with hair, crud, and even a buger left on things like the bathroom door and soap dispensers. One lamp didn't have a bulb, either. It was refrigerator-cold when I arrived and took hours to warm up. I only had five hours to sleep before a 10-hour drive, so I lost a lot of sleep. Breakfast choices were sparse, and so were the coffee and fixings. Most of the parking lot was dark, with very few lit areas. I should have stayed with Comfort Inn.

We stayed here twice, once on the way out and again coming back. The rooms were attractive, clean, and nicely equipped, and breakfast had a lot to choose from: cereal, oatmeal, toast, bagels, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, juice, and both decaf and regular coffee. One thing to know is to book online. They wouldn't match the rate I found on Trivago, even with an AAA or senior discount. The desk quoted me $100 more for two rooms, so I booked online right there in the lobby.
