SureStay Hotel by Best Western Tehachapi

Good spot for an overnight stop on a roadtrip in an electric vehicle, with lots of EV chargers right outside and several restaurants adjacent. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, though it wasn't the king size we'd reserved. I liked the hardwood floors instead of carpet. The railroad tracks are close, and trains run 24/7, so bring earplugs or be someone who likes trains.

We called ahead and checked that they had a king bed room for us with pets, and both the staff and website said they did. We booked, arrived, and were told they didn't. The refrigerator in our room was unplugged, which meant our medical supplies were no good. We cut our stay to one day. At 10am the next morning, they started knocking while my baby was napping, then called to ask if we wanted another night. Our baby got no sleep, and it made for a bad day. When we asked what they would do about all this, they said they didn't care and told us to contact corporate. Worst customer service here ever.

I've stayed here several times, and the rooms are a decent value, but I'm done coming back after my last visit. I had no hot water in the shower during a 5 hour stretch that morning. When I told the manager Joli at checkout, she seemed to think I was lying and said there was hot water in the kitchen. She showed no empathy and wasn't helpful. I asked for her manager's number or any way to report what happened, but she refused and said “he doesn’t want to be bothered”. I had to take two cold showers and she offered no remedy or understanding. Terrible service from Joli, with a poor attitude and no care for her job. After all my previous stays, I won't return.

No tissues, and we were running low on toilet paper. When I called the front desk because the TV remote didn't work, the guy said, “too bad”, and that he knew nothing about remotes. At other hotels they'd bring a new one. He didn't seem to care, so I won't stay here again.
